I have been finding it difficult to understand what qualitative research is as well as understanding how to use it.
I have done some research into finding out and understanding qualitative research. I have managed to find a website that was able to give a detailed explaination on qualitative research, detailing how and what it is used for.
The link below takes you to the website.

Week 5 - How how this unit is progressing for you? Maybe things you have learnt, what is working well, and .. not so well. How about "three things to do to make the unit work better for you?".
I feel that the progression of the unit, is progressing at a steady pace that is allowing me to learn and understand the different areas/topics covered by the unit.
The things I have learnt so far in this unit are the different types of research (fixed or flexible) also what the different types of research cover, how to carry out these types of research and how they allow you to obtain and extract information. I have also learnt more in depth information about the use of data collection methods, including their advantages and disadvantages. In relation to this I have learnt about the importance of ethics when carrying out any form of research especially when incorporating data collection, leant how to develop an hypothesis or a research question and how it should be structured in order to provide a background into developing research from. I have also learnt how to use a PLN environment as well as seeing and experiencing some of the benefits of this.
The things that are working well are the rate at which the unit is progressing, I feel that that it is going at a rate at which people at all levels can generate an understand of the unit.
The things I feel that are not working so well is the introduction of a PLN as I do not feel it is a complete disaster, I feel that people are not using it enough to maximise its full potential, therefore resulting in a lack of feedback (comments) on work posted. I also feel that the deliverance of the unit material on Victory is sometimes difficult to follow and with the lack of physical help or explanation it can be difficult to ask the lecture for advice/help at the time.
The things that could make this unit better would be to improve the quality of presentations as these can sometimes be difficult to hear and therefore follow. The format and structure of material on victory could also be improved, with the problem of following and obtaining unit material proving difficult at times. Another aspect that would make the unit better for me, would be to increase the amount of time seeing the lecturer, I feel I would have benefited a lot more, as I would be able to understand certain aspects of the unit a lot easier, with the use of examples or a detailed explanation that a lecturer would have given.

INSAD lecture, I Get It !! :)
With the thought of the INSAD study playing on my mind, questions that where going unanswered, questions that include, what is a study diary? What type of things do you have to include in the diary? What content has to go into the diary? What is the Ethical sheet, why is it so important? These questions have all been answered in today’s INSAD lecture.
I have compared my new found information with the study diary I have currently started it looks as though I was on the right path, in terms of the content to include within the study diary. The Ethical sheet had also been explained and its importance in this project had been brought to my attention, as information would be used to help support the project and needed to be included if I was going to obtain information.
I finally understand, I now have a clearer understanding of what should be included within the diary as well as the structure of my study diary.
